The Recreational Programme aims to provide high quality gymnastics classes for children of all ages, regardless of ability, to enjoy the sport, be active and develop a range of physical and social skills. This programme is the ideal starting point for newcomers to the sport.
The programme is divided into five stages and some gymnasts will progress over time through the whole programme. Others will reach a stage appropriate for them and continue to improve within that level.
All gymnasts work within a group of similar gymnasts led by well trained and qualified coaches who are members of British Gymnastics. We aim to keep a good gymnast to coach ratio of no more than 8 gymnasts to 1 coach and to keep children active throughout the whole session.
Gymnasts who enter the recreational programme, and are identified as having the potential to progress to competitive gymnastics, will be assessed by the head coach and considered for our Development Programmes which are for gymnasts competing at local, regional, national and international levels.
